Phase 10

Management of functional safety and functional safety assessment and auditing

Objective

The objective of a Functional Safety Management System (FSMS) is to ensure that all aspects of the safety lifecycle are adequately addressed for the phases which apply to the organisation.

Application

The FSMS forms part of the overall Safety Management System.  The FSMS outlines the organisations objectives and identifies the procedures and processes, which have been identified to meet the organisations objectives and compliance to appropriate standards.  The FSMS also identifies competency requirements for the different roles for persons who shall interact with the SIS and how the organisation plans to manage its responsibilities.
